GHM Digital Archive

by CENSORED
Due to the manifestation of a mysterious new donor (it's rake) and the discovery of a few translations I was unaware of, I have decided to compile a list of every piece of GHM merchandise or online media I am aware of and wether or not we have it scanned, ripped or archived somwhere and wether or not it's available in english.

The idea is to eventually (and I do mean eventually, over the course of several years) have everything archived and translated. I'll make triple copies of everything, that is to say, everything Iink to or upload I also back up on the wayback machine and I have a personal backup of it on my desktop pc and external hard drive. If the website ever goes offline I'll have an archive running somewhere for the following decades.

I have resisted this for the longest time and I will still be the main contributor financially, but in a few months we might actually start to accept donations to speed up the process, as my funds keep being depleted by personal emergency after personal emergency. (Most recently, my veterinarian's bill has drained the last of my bank account and I'm still waiting to get paid from my new job. Which does pay well on paper, but I have to wait for the state to dispense payments, and you know my thoughts on state efficiency.) This list will help me keep track of costs so it's easier to come up with numbers for online begging.

Here's an explanation of the various labels you see:

[ARC] = This item has been archived
[TBA] = This item will be archived eventually (As in I either will do it in the future, or I have already a copy ready to ship to BigManJapan to scan, but I have not shipped it to him yet since shipment to Russia is very expensive, I am collecting as many books as possible before making one huge shipment.)
[NA] = This item has not been archived

[TL] = This piece of media has been translated
[PTL] = This piece of media has been translated partially
[NTL] = This piece of media is in need of a translation

Keep in mind that when it comes to guide books, I will refer to them as translated if all the relevant story content and interviews have been translated instead of the whole book.

Also keep in mind that I will re-archive everything that I archived previously following BigManJapan's guidelines for proper preservation at some point.

2/11/2016 Weekly Famitsu ??? (Silver Case remake) [NA] [NTL]

For several years Suda had a column on a Dengeki magazine (unsure which one) about western indie games, I'm trying to find more info about that:
https://twitter.com/patoboxgame/status/ ... 944271872 Here's an example

Unknown Magazines:

I think he got them as cutouts, so he probably doesen't know where they come from either. If I find out I'll buy the magazines and scan them

1. If you mean cover/inlay's scans by the "Box" notation, then I can provide complete art scans (covers, discs, registration cards, obis etc) in addition to every manual scans that I've already provided (like a did with the original Silver Jiken: The Silver (PS1) release). In fact everything's already scanned and hosted in my profile at archive.org and is only waiting to be properly color calibrated, descreened, leveled etc. In other words, if you want I can provide complete art scans instead of manual scans only and cross out many [NA] entries.

2. What about various European releases with languages other than English? There are several Suda51 games with localized covers/manuals, for example. Also variations of manuals. For example, Flower, Sun, and Rain (PS2) has at least three releases (and manuals accordingly) variants, so "PS2 Manual [ARC] [NTL]" should branch to at least that amount in theory.

3. Michigan also had a promotional DVD-Video called Michigan Special Movie. It's archived.

4. There is also at least one more Sabra magazine issue (2005 #11) with Killer7 materials on the DVD-Video coverdisc (the disc is titled "sabra SuperExtra DVD 19"): https://i.ibb.co/VtF9dF1/123123123.jpg

I've already ordered this issue, so hopefully it will be archived some time in the future. To my surprise 2005 #15 issue is quite elusive and I haven't been able to secure it yet.

Yes thank you, I would be grateful for that. I used to do those myself. I was going to ask but I'm not really done compiling everything yet because I fell asleep yesterday (I had to do this twice because my browser crashed and I hadn't saved lol.)

As per this, if we happen to have them I will post them but I'm not gonna go out of my way to look for them just yet, because there's more important stuff we have not archived yet. For example you sent me a few russian manuals and I did reupload those on the site already (though I have not updated it with the latest stuff you sent me.)

Thanks I was not aware of it. I'm sure there's a lot of stuff I am unaware of. I'm actually going to ask for your help in tracking down some magazines I have seen pictures of, but I have no clue if they've been scanned or archived anywhere already. If not I'll just try to track them down myself.
Rake also has a bunch of famitsuwave DVDs which feature suda's show Area51 but he's such a lazy fuck he has not told me which issues he has yet, just give me a couple of days to finish sorting through all this stuff

All of the GameWave / Famitsuu Wave DVDs were secured by redump's dumpers and will be dumped/uploaded eventually. Therefore it will be possible to pluck all Suda51 content out of them.

By the way, I just bought that one. Though as you know I like to consolidate my shipments to save up on shipping expenses and taxes so I won't be getting it any time soon. I'll follow your instructions on how to properly scan the magazine pages, rip the dvd etc.
Do you happen to have art scans for the soundtracks as well? Otherwise I'll just scan mine again with the software you suggested

Alright, less to spend.

I don't own any soundtrack discs to any Suda51 game.

No problem. Once I figure out how to make proper high quality scans I'll go through them again myself and also properly rip the discs, checking serial codes etc. like you taught me. I don't know shit about color calibration and what not though, do you want to give me a hand with that?
Again, keep in mind that whatever I scan or rip you can post wherever you want. The more copies there are the better. I don't care about getting views or traffick at all.

Sure. DM me when you're ready to do some scanning.

Another thing to consider is switching to JPEG XL format for storing the scans. JPEG XL has already reached a stage when the images created with the current implementations of the codec will be decodable by any new implementation.

Right now I render edited variants of my scans with lossy JPEG for the ease of viewing. Switching to JPEG XL would allow to go for a higher quality while taking less space, maybe even go for lossless compression. The downside here is that a regular user might struggle with viewing the images right now but this format will get more support over time.

I thought about it more and I will continue to compress edited variants of my scans with regular JPEG while the raw/unedited scans will be stored in lossless JPEG XL. Since I host all of my raw scans on archive.org I want to save as much space as possible as a good gesture towards the site. From my tests lossless JXL saves around 20% more space in comparison to lossless PNG for the same images.

https://archive.org/details/HandInKiller7

I've scanned Hand in Killer7 book. As usual edited scans are stored in CBZ archive while raw scans are stored in RAW folder as individual images. Up to you what to download and host here. Re-hosting raw scans is probably an overkill. Download menu is at the bottom right corner. Be sure to download CBZ archive exactly since all other options (PDF, JP2 etc) are derives created by archive.org automatically and are of subpar quality in comparison to the source CBZ archive.

If you don't mind I'll post all the future scans here instead of my thread.

Thanks man, I missed your post because I already had the thread open because I was working on something myself and I was using it as reference. I'm glad there's finally full scans of HIK7, considering all we had until now was youtube screencaps.

When you have time, can you send me the links to the full art scans of the various games?

I requested package consolidations for my stuff and yours on buyee, as soon as they comply and I get a paycheck (I have been paid in cash this past month because I was switching banks, and setting up my business account) I'll ship everything. I bought a bunch of promotional dvds from sabre and famitsu and what not which contain some stuff I want to rip.
