Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
Directed by Steven Speilberg.
So. Indiana Jones. Where do I start? Do I even have to? I mean, EVERYONE knows him now. I have loved the Indiana Jones movies ever since I was a kid. Apparently a lot of people seem to be giving this new film (for some reason) a big thumbs down, but I just can't. I can't do it. There's too much wonderful action, too much wonderful tomb raiding, too much wonderful discovery, and oh my what an ending!
(spoiler!) The ending came straight out of a cross between The Abyss and Close Encounters. Good thing then that I absolutely love those two movies! (END Spoiler!) The year is 1957. Jones is already kidnapped at the beginning of the film and brought to a warehouse by a band of Russians. Some might recognize this PARTICULAR warehouse (wink wink). Jones is told of a crate (to the exact dimensions) that they want and is commanded to get it back. Well, some interesting use of gunpowder and shotgun shells later, and it's found. Indy escapes and finds himself in a small desert town in a scene that will stick out in my mind for many years to come.
I won't say what happens in this scene exactly, but the stakes are shown and we now know that Jones isn't going to be fighting Nazis anymore. Jones later meets Mutt Williams (played by Shia LeBouf), and Mutt tells Jones about a special set of skulls that, when put together in a certain place, would give the person returning the skulls a special power. This sets Mutt and Jones off to South America where they enter a temple, get in a fight, and find a treasure. I'm trying to explain the plot without giving anything away. So a few minutes later, in comes Marion Ravenwood in a return performance by Karen Allen.
They find John Hurt (who, through clues, led them to South America) and Ray Winstone (who is a greedy turd. ). They all end up on a road to an ancient city where the big ending takes place. On the way they have chases, fights, guns are fired, and plenty of Communists are beaten senseless. As for the technical side, I think this film is fantastic. Most of the stuff in the film was filmed for real. The sets are real and not 100% green screen like the new Star Wars films were. The CG in this film is some of the best I've seen in years from any recent film. Probably the most believeable since the Matrix and Lord Of The Rings films. I personally never remember thinking "Oh that looks computer generated" like I do with oh so many movies nowadays.
Even a big fight sequence in an open area of the jungle with a certain bunch of little friends (which I won't say) didn't look fake to me. The movie was shot with as many practical effects as could be used (meaning they used as many on the set special effects they could as opposed to computer made stuff). It was also shot and cut on film as opposed to being done in Digital like many films now. The technical side of this film really was terrific...like you care anyway. Haha As for my thoughts. Well, I loved it. It brought back my feelings of the 80's and early 90's seeing the original films again. I got swept up in the adventure and just had a good time which is EXACTLY what the point is in the first place. Don't say this or that can or cannot happen.
It's Indiana Jones! The films were always on the supernatural side anyway. I...didn't expect the ending that I ended up seeing but I was actually surprised myself. I personally liked the ending quite a bit.
In the end, the film is a wonderful time at the theater. Just be ready for some science fiction type stuff during the film, because (like in ALL of the previous films) this one has some pretty fantastic, unbelievable stuff going on during parts.
I loved it and anyone my age (24) has to see this movie if they liked the original films from when they were a kid.
3 stars
I give this film
[4/5]
. While I understand that there are LOADS of Indiana Jones fans out there that absolutely HATED this movie, I was one of the fans that really enjoyed it. I will say that aliens is a strange thing to have in a Jones picture but regardless, I found it entertaining even if you don't. It's obviously not as fantastic as Raiders Of The Lost Ark, but it's still Indiana Jones.

ILLegal Alien: Jedi Link of USA.
Of all the muthafuckas in the world, he's the muthafuckest.
This one is a bizarre case. Some places he fits in, others he stands out. No matter where you find him, he'll always be the same guy as he never puts up a facade for any reason. A filmmaker on the rise he has a vast knowledge of useless garbage. If it's in a movie he's seen it. Thanks to the internet he's seen worse. This one is severely scarred by an incomprehension of how retarded people can be. Generally a loner, he knows few, those few don't always support him so he stands on his own.
He is relentless in his pursuit as a filmmaker and refuses to be left out of a business he wants to see improve. He also has ADD which explains the somewhat "all over" nature of his own description.
