The Dark Knight
Directed By
Christopher Nolan
So how do you make a followup to one of the greatest if not THE greatest superhero film ever made? Well look no further because here it is. The Dark Knight is amazing. It's exactly what a sequel should be. It's like Terminator 2 to Terminator.
This is one of my favorite films this whole year. So what is it about? Well, Batman! And Joker (more on him soon). Rachael (now played by the much better Maggie Gyllenhall, sorry Katie) is with the new man about town. Harvey Dent. Harvey Dent is a man of justice. He wants justice done and he wants corruption gone.
Well who to help stand IN his way than the Joker played by the wonderful Heath Ledger (God Rest His Soul). Ledger plays the Joker better than Nicholson ever could have. While the greatest portrayal of insanity in a film still belongs to him (The Shining), Ledger is RIGHT up there. I've never seen a man in a film who legitimately revels in chaos and destruction, but he does. The Joker from Tim Burton's Batman was a completely different character. While crazy, he was not literally criminally insane. This Joker is. This Joker loves anarchy, in the most violent forms. He thinks when the times are rough that human nature goes straight down the toilet and loves to see that new nature in people. Let's just say this, if Heath Ledger doesn't even get nominated for any kind of best actor awards at the Academy Awards, I'll be offended. I don't want to say it, but this was his role of a lifetime. He literally blew me away as The Joker. One of the best performances I've seen in a long time.
As for Batman, well, what can I say? He's still here from the last picture. The city now has come to know of his presence and people rely on him to protect them. Christian Bale continues his role he turned around in Batman Begins. This is a conflicted man. He's not moody, but he knows that he has a job as a symbol of justice. Christian Bale is just awesome. Let's just leave it at that. I've never seen any movie of his that I didn't like (I will say I haven't seen all of his movies though). This movie is long. 152 minutes. Go to the bathroom first! However, those next few hours of your life will be spent in wonder and awe. They'll be spent laughing, or cringing. If you do not like this movie....well then you must love Epic Movie, Date Movie, Disaster Movie, and Meet The Spartans. And therefore must be completely insane.
Christopher Nolan is a wonderful storyteller. This movie has such a deep and rich storyline, that if you didn't know of Batman as a superhero, you'd still love the film. The mystery of it, who's crooked and who isn't, it all adds up. Like I said, the disgusting city of Gotham is back and most everyone will take a bribe. Those few who don't are trying to stop those who do, but mostly try and stop those who bribe others in the first place. What I'm saying is that the film is an incredibly well told piece of fiction and that I've never seen a comic book movie that fulfills that reality as much as this film does (with the exception of the first film).
This movie is a work of art. It's as good as the last Batman film if not better, and I hope that Ledger wins an Oscar for his role as The Joker, because it is amazing. I give this film
[5/5]

This movie blew me away, as I know it will you. This is one of the two best films I've seen this entire year (WallE and The Dark Knight). Rest In Peace Heath! We all miss you.

ILLegal Alien: Jedi Link of USA.
Of all the muthafuckas in the world, he's the muthafuckest.
This one is a bizarre case. Some places he fits in, others he stands out. No matter where you find him, he'll always be the same guy as he never puts up a facade for any reason. A filmmaker on the rise he has a vast knowledge of useless garbage. If it's in a movie he's seen it. Thanks to the internet he's seen worse. This one is severely scarred by an incomprehension of how retarded people can be. Generally a loner, he knows few, those few don't always support him so he stands on his own.
He is relentless in his pursuit as a filmmaker and refuses to be left out of a business he wants to see improve. He also has ADD which explains the somewhat "all over" nature of his own description.
