Casino
Directed by Martin Scorsese
So when I meet Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci (because I plan on doing so) I think that I'll be scared for my life just trying to make sure that I don't disrespect them in any way because I just have this feeling that if I do then I'll have a bunch of guys coming straight for my house weilding guns and bats.
So a few months ago I saw Taxi Driver. After that I rented Goodfellas. Both...fantastic films. I knew that if I saw any of Scorsese's other gangster flicks, they probably can't go wrong. I kept seeing this film at the video store but refused to rent it seeing as how I WILL NOT watch movies in fullscreen. Fullscreen IS after all a device of Satan and was only created by Satan himself in order to ruin a filmmaker's movie! That being said, I found it at Wal-Mart for $7.50.
Well I got my check the other day and decided to get some movies. Since I've noticed that Wal-Mart had Casino on the $7.50 bin for a while now, I took a gamble (get it? Hehe) and decided to just buy it. Not very expensive anyway!
All I've got to say is that if you want to see a film with a story told extremely well, then see a Scorsese picture. His films are edited very well and generally tend to get a LOT of information across without seeming too confusing like some films would be with even less than HALF of the information!
When Pesci and DeNiro are playing gangsters they're scary. Even though I know these guys are probably REALLY great people in real life, they are nothing but intimidating when they're in that mode.
Casino is about a man named Sam (DeNiro) who is given a casino to run by the mob. Basically once he moves in, all he has to do is pay every month and other than that, his place is COMPLETELY legit! Nicky (Pesci) decides to move to Las Vegas with DeNiro and ends up causing a LOT of pain and heartache becuase of his big-man attitude.
DeNiro gets in trouble with the law for unfair practices (which as I've said and is shown, he's legit) and Pesci is CONSTANTLY in trouble with the man. He's always got some feds on him it seems.
Another STANDOUT actor in this film is Sharon Stone (yes Arnie's fake wife in Total Recall) as DeNiro's wife, Ginger...yes like the lady on "Gilligan's Island". She is somewhat of a liar and has a strange relationship with a past boyfriend (played by James Woods) that is never fully fleshed out. But in the scenes where she is realy playing a part in them, she just steals the show sometimes. She was actually nominated for an Academy Award because of her part in this film in fact!
I love gangster pictures (as well as yakuza flicks which is the Japanse mafia). I just love them. The BIGGEST thing about a good gangster picture is the story. If the story is bad, then the movie is uneventful and boring, there's no getting around that fact. This movie's story is actually VERY engaging and while it isn't moving 100 miles an hour all the time, I ALWAYS wanted to know what would happen next.
This film is an epic two hours and fifty nine minutes. And don't watch this film if you don't expect to hear the F-word....A LOT. This film is actually the third highest on the list of movies that use the F-word most often. Over the bordering on three hour length, the F-word is used an insane 422 times! I personally don't have any problem with that. I mean, it's a gangster film, of COURSE they're going to say the F-word all the time. I'm used to it. If you think you can see a modern gangster film without hearing the F-word, then you're going to be going on a LOOOOOOONG search, because you'll never find one made now that doesn't say it. My mom would HATE this movie just for that reason. And while I would never hate a film for something as silly as a word, some people do and that's understandable. I won't count out a picture because of the F-word though...ESPECIALLY when it's a gangster flick anyway.
However! I STILL say that this film has a fantastically well put together storyline and is a GREAT movie for anyone looking for that.
[4/5]
(4 1/2 out of four) This film is just awesome and seeing as how it's not even 8 dollars (at Wal-Mart) there's no reason why you shouldn't see this film. Scorsese is a fantastic direct
I give this film

ILLegal Alien: Jedi Link of USA.
Of all the muthafuckas in the world, he's the muthafuckest.
This one is a bizarre case. Some places he fits in, others he stands out. No matter where you find him, he'll always be the same guy as he never puts up a facade for any reason. A filmmaker on the rise he has a vast knowledge of useless garbage. If it's in a movie he's seen it. Thanks to the internet he's seen worse. This one is severely scarred by an incomprehension of how retarded people can be. Generally a loner, he knows few, those few don't always support him so he stands on his own.
He is relentless in his pursuit as a filmmaker and refuses to be left out of a business he wants to see improve. He also has ADD which explains the somewhat "all over" nature of his own description.
